The South Carolina Gamecocks had another disappointing showing against Clemson Saturday night in the Palmetto Bowl.

The Tigers beat the Gamecocks 34-10 in Williams-Brice Stadium, and it started from the first quarter when QB Jake Bentley threw a pick-six.

Will Muschamp is now 0-2 against Clemson during his South Carolina career, and he spoke with reporters after the game:

  • “Extremely disappointing in how we started the game with a pick and a TD.”
  • “Simple things we needed to do well and we did not.”
  • “Couldn’t get anything going on offense until late.”
  • “Clemson’s front four disrupted the our offense.”
  • “Had nine penalties for the first time. We hadn’t had that many combined over our last few games.”
  • “Overall, disappointed in the showing tonight.”
  • “We have to learn how to handle the moment better and we didn’t. We lost our cool at times.”
  • “We have to learn from this and move forward.”
  • “RB AJ Turner had a high ankle injury.”
  • Muschamp disagreed with reporter on the majority of Jake Bentley’s INTs are miscommunications. “Actually, we’ve had just one miscommunication.”
  • How to close the gap on Clemson. “It’s never as good as it seems and never as bad as it seems. We need to continue to recruit. We’re down some scholarships right now. We’ll continue to build the program the right way.”
  • “When you lose to your arch rivals like that, it’s not a lot of fun.”
