David Hicks Jr. is heading to the SEC, staying close to his home in Katy, Texas.

On Wednesday afternoon, Hicks announced that he was choosing Texas A&M over Oklahoma and others.

He was considered a near-lock to go to Oklahoma, so many were surprised he chose A&M, which he did in a live ceremony:

Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Hicks is the No. 12 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class, the No. 1 defensive lineman and the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of Texas.

The Aggies now have 12 players in their 2023 recruiting class, which currently ranks No. 18 in the nation, per 247Sports.
