Sumlin was fired after 3 seasons with the Wildcats. In 2022, he was named head coach and general manager of the Houston Gamblers in the USFL.
Sumlin was Texas A&M’s head coach from 2012-17. He led the Aggies to a record of 51-26 during his tenure. He parted ways with the program following a 7-5 campaign in 2017.
He then moved on to Arizona, but struggled to gain any traction with that program. He did not make a bowl with the Wildcats and was fired after going 0-5 in 2020.
Sumlin previously served as a tight ends coach at Oklahoma from 2003-05.
This news has not yet been announced by Maryland.
