Texas A&M picked up a big win against Auburn on Saturday and may have gotten some crucial answers in regard to the quarterback spot.

Max Johnson was the better quarterback between him and Conner Weigman Saturday, throwing for 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns and posting a 96.2 QBR.

On Sunday, Paul Finebaum joined the Matt Barrie Show to discuss A&M’s quarterback situation. Finebaum believes the Aggies proved themselves worthy with Johnson at the helm.

“A&M is a lot better than I think they showed, just like LSU and others who swung and missed in an early game,” Finebaum said. “Yesterday was just a prove it game. For A&M now, it’s a matter of surviving a tough game against Arkansas this weekend in Arkansas. They may lose half their games, but they will be in all of them.”

Barrie agreed with Finebaum and believes the Aggies should move forward with Johnson as the starter.

“I think Texas A&M could have a new shot at life with Max Johnson at quarterback,” Barrie said. “He just looked more fluid and they’re going to have their opportunity to play it out.”

Texas A&M will get another test next week against Arkansas, which took LSU down to the wire on Saturday. The game will be another chance for Johnson to prove he is the right choice at quarterback moving forward.
