On the first day that NFL free agents could sign with new teams, many squads made the most of it, grabbing new players and adding to their rosters.

One former high draft pick, ex-Texas A&M OL Luke Joeckel, will have a new home next season, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that he was signing with the Seattle Seahawks:

Going from Jacksonville to Seattle is a big-time upgrade for the former Aggie, but the one-year deal shows that it’s not because of merit that he’s heading to the playoff-caliber squad.

The Seahawks’ biggest weakness is their offensive line, so they’re likely going to kick the tires on several veteran linemen this offseason just to see if they can find any useful pieces.

After he was selected with the No. 2 overall pick by the Jaguars in the 2013 NFL Draft, Joeckel has disappointed. He moved from tackle to guard in 2016, but the Jags decided not to pick up the final year of his rookie contract.

If he can’t find more success with the Seahawks in 2017, his NFL career may come to an abrupt end.
