Ross Bjork wasn’t afraid to be honest about Texas A&M under Jimbo Fisher at Sunday’s presser.

Fisher and Texas A&M parted ways with a buyout of about $76 million left to be paid to the former Aggies head coach.

The Texas A&M AD said that the program was stuck in neutral with Fisher at the helm. Bjork didn’t feel like Texas A&M was meeting its standards in excellence and leadership.

“In my analysis, I determined that – at this point, for lots of reasons – our program is stuck in neutral,” said Bjork. “I did not feel like we were meeting those standards in excellence and leadership.”

Bjork further explained that the program was not reaching its full potential with Fisher.

The assessment I delivered was that we are not reaching our full potential. We are not in the championship conversation, and something was not quite right in our direction, and the plan,” said Bjork. “I appreciate their support for this decision and our plan moving forward.”

While the timing of the firing might not be the best, Bjork decided it was the right time to move in a new direction at head coach.

“The timing is not ideal, especially last night. but it’s also not unique given certain dates coming up in college athletics,” said Bjork. “However, given various meeting and the end of the season approaching, we decided to move forward immediately.”

Texas A&M won its final game with Fisher in charge 51-10 over Mississippi State. The Aggies play Abilene Christian and LSU to close out the regular season.
