Texas A&M gained some respect from college football fans and voters for taking No. 2 Clemson to the wire, but in the end, it was still a loss and Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher isn’t interested in moral victories. Fisher’s squad looks pick up a W with Louisiana-Monroe in town. Below, find the score, live updates and stats for the Texas A&M-ULM football game.

The lead up

SDS News: Jimbo Fisher shares news on LB Anthony Hines, rejects ‘moral victory’ on SEC Coaches Teleconference

Injured on a touchback play, Texas A&M LB Anthony Hines is out for the season, coach Jimbo Fisher said Wednesday on the SEC coaches teleconference.

Fisher called it a lower leg injury after it appeared to happen with about two minutes remaining in the Clemson loss on Saturday. It’s a tough loss for the Aggies, who not only count Hines as a key player, but also lost linebacker Ikenna Okeke earlier.

Fisher said the Aggies are trying to move on from any sort of “moral victory” against Clemson.

“You move on every week, whether you win or lose, you move on,” he said. “That was a loss, there are no moral victories. That was a hurt locker room … Our kids appreciate the effort but we didn’t win it … We don’t want that feeling again, we moved on. That’s life.”

SDS News: Fisher praises QB Kellen Mond’s leadership

Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond captured the country’s attention last Saturday night by nearly leading a comeback against No. 2 Clemson.

His coach noticed, too.

During his press conference Monday, Jimbo Fisher lauded the young signal-caller’s performance in the Aggies’ 28-26 loss against the Tigers. Mond completed 23 of 40 passes for 430 yards and three scores as Texas A&M came a 2-point conversion away from taking one of the nation’s top teams to overtime.

Fisher seemed most impressed with Mond’s poise and leadership. Working on national TV against arguably the nation’s best defensive front, the sophomore rallied his team for 13 fourth-quarter points and a near-upset.
