Soon after being hired in College Station, Jimbo Fisher challenged the 12th Man to show up and help the Aggies set the spring game attendance record. Thanks to the news from Texas on Friday, Texas A&M likely took a step closer to making that a reality.

The current spring game attendance record was set by Ohio State in 2016 when 100,189 fans showed up. Kyle Field can hold 102,733 fans.

Friday, Texas A&M was proud to announce the 2018 Maroon & White Game would feature no attendance. According to the Aggie press release, this is “first time in memory” that the game will be free for fans to attend. The game is set to be held Saturday, April 4 at 4 p.m.

Kyle Field gates open an hour before kickoff. The Aggies are planning on treating the spring game like an actual game — there will be no gimmicky scoring or clock rules. The teams competing in the spring match will be drafted by team captains the week of the game.

With all these changes, Texas A&M is going all out to secure the spring attendance record in Jimbo Fisher’s first season in College Station. It will be interesting to see if the 2018 Maroon & White Game is the first unofficial win of the Fisher era.
