Times sure are a changin’ in the Southwest Classic rivalry.

Under Bret Bielema, Arkansas has become notorious for its big, physical offensive linemen and stout running game. The Hogs even went so far as to put the offensive line on the 2015 media guide heading into the season. On the flip side, under Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M has been viewed as a finesse team that would wilt as the game got physical in the trenches.

Neither appeared to be the case this year in Arlington, as the Aggies repeatedly stuffed the Razorbacks on the line of scrimmage near the goal line. Things got so bad for Arkansas after a failed quarterback sneak attempt on third down, the tough-minded Razorbacks called for a wide receiver jet sweep on fourth and goal.

Predictably, that play was stuffed for negative yards.

While that play may have seemed like the worst one of the evening for Arkansas, it has been revealed that Texas A&M only had 10 men on the field on this goal line stuff, and yet the Razorbacks could not generate enough push to put the ball in the end zone:

Thanks to Arkansas’ failures near the goal line, the final score was not really indicative of the closeness of the game. With a snoozer against Alcorn State this weekend, Arkansas had better get things figured out up front before playing a five-game stretch that features some of the best defensive lines in the nation from Alabama, Ole Miss, Auburn, Florida, and LSU.
