In the recruiting battle for 4-star CB Jeffery Carter, Texas A&M went head-to-head with in-state rival Texas and SEC West rival Alabama and came away the winner. The Mansfield Legacy product made his announcement in a video shared via his Twitter account Saturday.

Carter, who measures 6-foot, 186 pounds, is rated No. 11 at his position, No. 16 in the state of Texas and No. 84 nationally overall on the 247Sports Composite. He has received 23 scholarship offers so far. In the video, made in collaboration with TexAgs, Carter is shown choosing between hats with the logos of Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama and Texas A&M. He tosses the first three hats and leaves the Aggies hat for last.

With Carter on board, Texas A&M now has 23 commitments in its 2019 class, which is ranked No. 2 both nationally and in the SEC, trailing only Alabama. Carter’s commitment brings the classes blue-chip ratio up over 50 percent. The Aggies have commitments from 11 4-star recruits and one 5-star prospect.
