Former Tennessee RB Alvin Kamara is one of the favorites to win the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award this season after coming on strong lately for the New Orleans Saints.

However, after hearing that his former school just offered Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy a six-year, $42 million contract to become the Vols’ next head coach, he’s willing to give up his NFL career and head back to Knoxville.

On Wednesday, Kamara joked that he’s ready to become the next coach of Tennessee if the Vols are willing to offer him the same contract Gundy turned down:

Obviously, Kamara’s young NFL career is off to a great start, so he won’t be giving that up anytime soon. Is coaching in Kamara’s future? Maybe, but that won’t happen for a long time if all goes according to plan.

If the Vols don’t find a new head coach soon, though, Kamara might end up becoming the top candidate for the Tennessee position.
