The SEC will take a page out of the NFL’s book when it comes to replay review this season. In-game reviews will still be handled by replay officials in the stadium, but those officials will be assisted by reviewers located at the SEC headquarters.

The SEC is the first conference to take advantage of the new system, and GoVols247 says one coach is already wholeheartedly supporting the change.

Tennessee coach Butch Jones said he’s in favor of anything that helps with accuracy:

“I like it,” Jones said. “It’s all about getting it right. There’s gonna be so many checks and balances within that. We’ve been a program that has been through trials and tribulations of instant replay, and it’s cost us sometimes. So to be able to get it right, that’s what it’s all about.”

Though the new replay system probably won’t be perfect, Jones thinks it’s a step in the right direction.

With Tennessee’s lofty expectations for the 2016 season, Jones and the Volunteers can’t afford a botched replay swinging the outcome of a game.
