Jaylen McCollough has been claiming his innocence following his arrest on a felony assault charge, with the Tennessee safety being accused of punching a man that entered his apartment.

While Josh Heupel won’t discuss McCollough’s availability since the university, and Knoxville police, continue to investigate, it apparently hasn’t affected his status with the team from a practice standpoint.

According to WBIR-TV in Knoxville, McCollough “is still practicing with the Vols and attending team meetings after being arrested Sunday”, citing sources close to the team.

Per a police report, a man claimed he entered an off-campus apartment by mistake that was rented out to McCollough. McCollough reportedly punched the man, identified as Zion Spencer, while chasing him out of the apartment, with Spencer allegedly falling down stairs and losing consciousness.

The station reports that a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 18 at Knox County, Tenn.’s General Sessions Court.
