Jaylen Wright officially decided that it was time for the sun to set on his career with Tennessee on Friday. Wright declared for the 2024 NFL Draft on social media.

The Tennessee backfield included Wright, Jabari Small, and Dylan Sampson. However, Wright was the main back and led the Volunteers with 1,013 yards rushing this season. Wright also accounted for 4 touchdowns on the ground.

Here’s what Wright had to say about the decision:

“I am grateful for the extraordinary talents and gifts bestowed upon me by God. Under the leadership of Coach Heupel and the Tennessee coaching staff, I have experienced exponential growth both on and off the field,” said Wright. “I am appreciative of the trust placed in me to carry forward the vision and for the invaluable knowledge imparted, applicable not only in the game but also in life. I am pleased to inform you that my family and I have decided that the next phase of my football career will be to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.”

Tennessee heads into the Citrus Bowl at 8-4, preparing to meet Iowa in Orlando, Florida on New Year’s Day. It will be the 1st meeting between the programs since 2015.

Kickoff from Camping World Stadium will be at 1 p.m. ET on ABC.
