Last season’s matchup between Tennessee and South Carolina did not end well for the Vols.

Not only did the Vols have their College Football Playoff hopes crushed with an upset loss, quarterback Hendon Hooker, who was a Heisman candidate at the time, tore his ACL and was forced to miss the remainder of the season.

It was a dark night for Tennessee fans.

But this time around, things were different.

The Vols got a dominating 41-20 win over the Gamecocks in front of an electric Neyland Stadium crowd. Quarterback Joe Milton, who took over last season when Hooker went down, had 239 passing yards and a touchdown.

Hooker was in attendance for Saturday night’s game, and Milton made sure to get the win for the Vols’ legend and one of Milton’s close friends.

“Being able to come out and win with the team and having him here, we’re going to go back in the locker room and celebrate,” Milton said after the game.

Milton and the Vols looked like a different team than the one that lost to Florida a few weeks ago, and the dominant win is sure to give Tennessee some momentum heading into the bye week before its matchup with Alabama.
