Josh Heupel admits team can improve, praises Vols for road win: 'I'll go anywhere with these guys'
Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Volunteers are 6-2 despite a bit of an underwhelming 2023 season.
The Vols’s road woes took the week off. The Vols downed Kentucky 33-27 behind a strong rushing attack in Lexington.
Following the game, Heupel was the first to admit that Tennessee’s win over Kentucky could have been better. It’s unlikely a performance like Saturday beats the likes of Mizzou and Georgia, which are both on the schedule for the Vols moving forward.
But regardless, Heupel is riding with his guys:
Josh Heupel: There’s a lot of things this program need to get better at and that starts with me. But I’ll go anywhere with these guys. We compete.

It’s hard to doubt the want-to of anyone on this Vols roster, especially from Jaylen Wright and Dylan Sampson. The Vols’ RB duo led a unit that totaled over 250 rushing yards on the day against one of the conferences’ top run defenses.
Tennessee will be back in action next week against UConn.
