Josh Heupel updates injury status for pair of freshmen Vols
Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Vols have for the most part avoided significant injury issues heading into the 2023 season. It won’t affect the starting lineup, but on Wednesday Heupel revealed that 2 freshmen Vols have broken the Vols’ streak of injury luck.
Namely, freshman defensive lineman Tyree Weathersby will miss the entirety of the 2023 season with an unspecified injury. Freshman RB DeSean Bishop is also injured, but Heupel didn’t rule out his return to the field in a few months.

Freshman running back DeSean Bishop will miss a couple of months due to injury as well.

Weathersby was rated as a 4-star defensive lineman by 247Sports coming out of high school, a late riser in the Class of 2023. Bishop hails from Knoxville and was the Tennessee Class 5A Mr. Football winner for 2022.
Neither were likely to see significant time on the field in 2023.
