The college basketball season may be over but there’s at least one reason for Tennessee basketball fans to rejoice as Rick Barnes’ program just landed its first win of the offseason.

Tennessee assistant coach Kim English was listed among the candidates to be the next Southeast Missouri State University head coach but has reportedly decided to remove himself from consideration for the job.

This news was first reported by Gabe DeArmond of PowerMizzou.com, the Missouri Rivals affiliate.

Since English’s arrival on Rocky Top, Tennessee’s recruiting efforts have dramatically improved in a very short span. In recent recruiting classes, Tennessee has signed 2019 five-star prospect Josiah-Jordan James, five-star 2020 prospects Jaden Springer and Keon Johnson, in addition to four-star forward Corey Walker.

Keeping English on staff for another season should help Tennessee on the court as well, as the Vols are poised to return a solid core of players that look to rebound from last season’s disappointing season on the court.
