A 2021 North Carolina defensive tackle’s verbal commitment to Tennessee didn’t last long.

Less than a month after pledging to the Volunteers, East Surry DT Isaac Washington announced Wednesday that he is decommitting from UT. Washington posted a statement to his Twitter account:

Washington, who committed to Tennessee on Jan. 25, 2020, mentions “recent coaching changes” in his note. His primary Vols recruiter, Tracy Rocker, recently became the defensive line coach at South Carolina. Washington thanks head coach Jeremy Pruitt and defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley, but not Rocker, in the note above.

Washington is rated 3-stars, the No. 31 North Carolina product, No. 40 defensive tackle and No. 722 prospect nationally for the 2021 class on the 247Sports Composite. Washington has only seven other scholarship offers, but they’re all from ACC and SEC schools: Auburn, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.

Tennessee now has five commitments in its 2021 class. With Washington in the class, UT’s 2021 class was ranked No. 11 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC on the Composite.
