Tennessee DB Rashaan Gaulden rips Kirk Herbstreit for hypocritical comments
On Saturday night, Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield won the Heisman Trophy in dominating fashion, earning more than 80 percent of the first-place votes.
Though Mayfield has had some incidents both on and off the field that have called his reputation into question, he won the award easily.
After the announcement was made official, ESPN analyst sent out a tweet saying Mayfield is misunderstood and simply a competitive player who lets emotions get the best of him sometimes:
My man @baker_mayfield6 is VERY misunderstood! His competitive spirit is special and sure, sometimes has gotten the best of him. But, he is a good man that is driven to be the best. Congrats Baker!

That caught the attention of Tennessee DB Rashaan Gaulden, who famously (or infamously) gave Alabama fans two middle fingers earlier this season. After that, Herbstreit said Gaulden should be kicked off the team.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that the Tennessee defender was quick to point out the hypocrisy of Herbstreit’s praise of Mayfield:
Lol bro but I should be kicked off the team and eat popcorn and I don't have a chip on my shoulder and I'm not competitive! Use to have a lot of respect for you!!! https://t.co/69W3IwjNvC

It’s clear to see why Gaulden is upset at Herbie, and perhaps the ESPN analyst will walk back his previous outrage about Gaulden’s actions.
For now, though, Gaulden is simply scratching his head wondering why he should be kicked off his team while Mayfield gets praise heaped on him.
