If you heard a defensive back was the first rookie player to have his black helmet stripe removed during Tennessee’s fall camp, you’d probably think the highly touted and legacy recruit Nigel Warrior was the player deemed ready to officially join the team.

However, you would be wrong.

The first player to have his black stripe taken off was indeed a legacy defensive back signee but it wasn’t Warrior, it was freshman Baylen Buchanan. Buchanan is the son of former NFL defensive back Ray Buchanan known for his days with the Atlanta Falcons.

Look for more players to have their black stripes removed in the coming days as Tennessee entered its first two-a-days practices Wednesday, giving young players a chance to prove their mettle in fall camp.
