The Tennessee Volunteers got off to a hot start against Florida on Saturday afternoon, taking a 32-17 lead into halftime.

However, the Gators, who have been playing well lately, didn’t give up. They came storming back in the second half on the strength of Kerry Blackshear Jr. and Noah Locke.

But, by the time the final buzzer sounded, the Vols hand managed to hold on, thanks in large part to the efforts of John Fulkerson, who scored a game-high 22 points to lead Tennessee to a 63-58 win.

Fulkerson had a huge put-back dunk with less than a minute to go to give the Vols a 60-56 lead. That dunk came right after Fulkerson hit his first career three-point shot, coming up clutch for the Vols time and time again:

Fans even started chanting “Fulky! Fulky!” after the big three-pointer:

Tennessee improved to 16-13 overall and 8-8 in SEC play. Meanwhile, the Gators fell to 18-11 overall and 10-6 in SEC play. Florida is probably still safe in the NCAA Tournament picture, while the Vols will still be on the outside looking in, but this was a huge win for Rick Barnes and his squad.

This will hurt Florida’s seeding, and it won’t help coach Mike White’s popularity in Gainesville, especially since the Gators beat LSU on Wednesday.
