The Tennessee Volunteers hired Jeremy Pruitt away from Alabama this offseason, and expectations are high for him entering the 2018 season.

On Wednesday, Tennessee legend Al Wilson shared his excitement for the new era in Knoxville, speaking during a Big Orange Caravan event in Atlanta.

According to a release from the school, Wilson said he thinks Pruitt is already working wonders on the recruiting trails:

“I’m super excited for the way he’s trying to bring Tennessee football back and the direction in which he’s going,” Wilson said. “He’s getting some good quality players to come in, and at the end of the day that’s what we want.”

Wilson is a good person for Pruitt to have in his corner, as he was a team captain on the Vols’ 1998 national-title winning team.

“I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since we had a chance to win that national championship, but I’ll tell you, it’s a good feeling to know that Tennessee fans still adore and have love for what we did 20 years ago,” Wilson said.

It’ll be important for Pruitt to have some immediate success, but for now, he’s doing all the right things in Wilson’s eyes.
