William Poole III has not committed to a school yet. But Georgia has to like its chances of landing the five-star junior cornerback following his response to Kirby Smart being named the Bulldogs’ head coach.

After finding out Georgia planned to hire Smart, Poole expressed his excitement on Twitter.

Poole also sent out a tweet (since deleted) saying, “I’m smelling a national championship in the oncoming years….the future is definitely bright!”

And on Sunday, Poole sent out a simple tweet, saying, “It’s official,” referring to Smart’s hiring.

“The hiring of coach (Kirby) Smart is the news I’ve been waiting for,” Poole told SEC Country. “The guy is a defensive mastermind and he’s been under the best coach in the nation (Nick Saban). I’m sure he’ll know how to run it and get things done. The future is bright for UGA. I see national championships coming.”

Poole, from the Atlanta suburb of Hapeville, is the No. 3 cornerback in the Class of 2017 (according to Rivals). He has over 40 offers from schools, including Georgia.

Smart has been Alabama’s defensive coordinator since 2008, and has helped the Crimson Tide win three national championships. Now he’s returning to Georgia, where he was a safety in the late 1990s.
