Four-star running back Cam Akers is no longer committed to Alabama, according to a Tweet he made on Thursday afternoon.

Akers is the No. 3 running back in the 2017 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Akers had been committed to the Crimson Tide since August, and though he decommitted today, he could still end up there by the time signing day comes around in February.

According to 247Sports, he has an upcoming unofficial visit scheduled for Ohio State.

He’s the top player in the state of Mississippi, and should draw plenty of interest from around the country.

It marks a tough day in Alabama recruiting, as the Crimson Tide also lost QB Jake Fromm, who flipped his commitment to Georgia earlier in the day.
