It’s been a wild last 15 hours for Texas A&M.

The Aggies’ top commit, five-star quarterback Tate Martell, decommitted late Wednesday night via Twitter, which set off a domino chaotic effect for Texas A&M.

Martell’s father told Rivals.com there was a specific reason his son decommitted: the Aggies’ hiring of offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone away from UCLA.

“Tate ran a good campaign with them and found a love affair really quick,” Al Martell told the website. “Everybody was really comfortable with it. I was comfortable with it up until shortly after the Mazzone arrival.

“We were there at the end of January and again in February and then a third time in March after the Ohio State visit. Just making the trips and through it all, I try to keep my opinions and feelings what I see as a parent when we’re on those trips, but it was different.”

The Martell family struggled with the lack of communication since the Mazzone transition.

Following Martell’s decommitment, wide receivers coach Aaron Moorehead took to Twitter (he has since apologized) to vent his frustration. Following Moorehead’s tweets, four-star WR Mannie Netherly also decommited from Texas A&M.
