USC forked over a large chunk of cash to send Lane Kiffin packing.

Kiffin received a generous parting give — about $2.7 million — after USC fired him in September 2013. According to the Los Angeles Times, the current Alabama offensive coordinator was paid that amount during the 2014 season, his first with the Crimson Tide. By comparison, USC athletic director Pat Haden made about $2.9 million that fiscal year.

Kiffin earned $680,000 in his first two campaigns with Alabama, and he’s scheduled to make $714,000 next season.

Kiffin wasn’t exactly a hit with the Trojans, going 28-15 in his time with them from 2010 to 2013. It’s safe to say his stint with the Crimson Tide has been more rewarding.

Double-dipping on his salary had to be sweet as well.
