Jay Cutler’s season is over.

Chicago Bears coach John Fox on Thursday announced the former Vanderbilt quarterback is set to have shoulder surgery this Saturday, requiring the team to place him on injured reserve.

Cutler sustained the injury against the New York Giants on Nov. 20, and it was reported one day later that he was likely done for the year. He completed 59.1 percentof his passes for 1,058 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions in just five appearances this year.

Cutler had missed handful of games earlier this season due to a thumb injury, but this latest injury has ended what many believe will be his final season in Chicago.
