Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley seems to be the new frontrunner for the Houston head coaching vacancy, according to CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd.

Dodd reports that a source close to UH says Riley “hit it out of the park” during his recent interview with the Cougars.

“I would be surprised if they don’t hire him,” the source said. “Lincoln killed it.”

Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin, who has been in the mix for the same position for over a week, did “well” with his interview but it does not look like Houston will move forward with him.

However, one thing to keep an eye on is the potential vacancy at South Florida. Dodd reports current head coach Willie Taggart is a person of interest at Oregon, and that Kiffin would become the “top choice” to replace him in Tampa, Fl.
