Arkansas is waking up this morning probably emotionally hung over from the loss against Virginia Tech.

And the Hogs should be.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the second half, capping off a monumental loss and embarrassing performance in the second half. Virginia Tech scored 35 unanswered points to win 35-24.

Two seniors — TE Jeremy Sprinkle and WR Drew Morgan — added to the onslaught. Sprinkle was suspended and didn’t play for shoplifting at Belk (Here are the items he allegedly shoplifted).

Morgan has grown into one of my favorite players in the SEC over the last couple of seasons. He’s an undersized workhorse who catches everything that comes his way, but he won’t forget last night for several reasons. He was ejected in the fourth quarter, and everyone was wondering why.

According to Bret Bielema after the game, Morgan was ejected for spitting in an opponent’s face.

“I was told he spit in a guy’s face, so I’m assuming he did,” Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema said during his post-game press conference. “Very embarrassing for me as a head coach to say that. When the official comes over and tells me that, I of course agree he needed to be removed from the game.”

Bielema continued, “Drew has done so many great things in our program,” Bielema said. “But I think a lot of you, if I just said that, you take a step back like, ‘Drew Morgan? Really?’

“But when you act out of character, you get out of character results. That’s what we have to teach these guys.”

Morgan is the type of hard-nosed player that could get a shot at the next level and succeed, but this selfish act certainly doesn’t look good to NFL scouts and general managers.

It’s certainly not the way he wanted to end his career at Arkansas.
