LSU fans can forget about a last-second flip from four-star linebacker and Alabama commit Christopher Allen.

On late Tuesday afternoon, Allen all but guaranteed his inevitable signing with the Crimson Tide.

“It’s pretty much shut down,” Allen told 247Sports. “I’m going to Alabama.”

Just over 24 hours ago, Allen, who is from Baton Rouge, tweeted a photo of himself in a Tigers uniform and seemed to hint at the idea of a possible switch up from his Alabama commitment — one that had begun on Nov. 27.

“It means a heck of a lot to me,” Allen said on the Culotta & The Fan show on 104.5/104.9 ESPN-FM in Baton Rouge last week. “It’s been a team that I have been watching since I was a little boy. When I was young, I dreamed of playing for the LSU Tigers. So, it’s a big deal.”

But it appears as if Allen couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to play for a program that has dominated college football for much of the last decade, despite the appeal of gearing up in Death Valley and playing in front of a hometown crowd.

“I liked the picture,” Allen said with a laugh. “So I posted it. I didn’t think it would get that kind of attention that it did.”

Allen took an official visit to LSU on Jan. 13 and then followed it up with one to Tuscaloosa this past weekend.

With back-to-back visits to two of the most prominent football programs in America in a week’s time, you can only imagine how difficult of a decision it must have been for a young man of his age.

“I told Coach O I’m probably going to go with Alabama,” Allen said. “He was really sad. It made me kinda sad looking at his face. I really just wanted to tell him so they could go get whoever they needed to get.

“It was very hard decision to pass up my home school that’s five minutes away from my house,” he added. “But you know, Bama has some great coaching staff. Coach Tosh and Coach Jeremy, I really like them. I feel like they’ll get me where I need to be.”

Allen (6-foot-4, 234 pounds), a top-10 player at outside linebacker, joins an elite group of prospects headed to Alabama. The Crimson Tide have the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation, claiming a total of 20 five- and four-star prospects.
