Did LSU cheat to flip the nation's No. 1 ILB? One former Sooner suggests so
LSU landed one of its biggest additions to its 2017 recruiting class Thursday, as the nation’s top-ranked inside linebacker prospect Jacob Phillips flipped his commitment from Oklahoma to LSU. While the news is cause for celebration down in Baton Rouge, Sooner fans have to be feeling pretty bad with signing day just around the corner.
One fan in particular, former Oklahoma offensive lineman Gabe Ikard, seems particularly troubled by this turn of events. Ikard went so far to praise his college coach Bob Stoops for not cheating to land recruits:
Best thing about @OU_CoachStoops:no matter how many stars you have, he's not going to cheat to get you.
Man of integrity. Love him.#Boomer— Gabe Ikard (@GabeIkard) January 26, 2017
Ikard also sent out this tweet just before, which indicates he believes money was exchanged for Phillips’ flip:
Rain drop.
Drop top.

So, what do you think? Was Phillips’ decision more than meets the eye, or is this just a case a Sooner once again feeling jealous of the SEC?
