Perhaps the most bewildering thing in all of college football is when players drop the ball short of the goal line instead of scoring a touchdown.

You’ve seen it before. Some guy runs uninhibited, 99 percent of the distance to score what should be an easy touchdown — but he drops the ball too soon.

It happened again on Saturday.

This time it was former Auburn quarterback John Franklin III. The former Tiger, who now plays for Lane Kiffin’s Florida Atlantic Owls, made a really dumb mistake in a game against North Texas.

He then celebrated quite a bit, which made it look even worse. Luckily, FAU still won the game 41-17.
