The term “national champions” seems to be a lightning rod for conversation these days.

Unlike UCF, Alabama doesn’t have to market itself as the “national champions” because the Tide have the trophies to prove it. Alabama running back Damien Harris, among others, haven’t been shy about reminding UCF that without a trophy to prove it, “national champions” is nothing more than a claim.

And perhaps Alabama can have a little fun, too.

On Friday, Alabama welcomed in the Twitter trophy for the 2018 National Championship. So naturally, the Alabama Football Twitter account tweeted out a photo of the trophy upon its arrival.

Notice the hashtag:

Was that trolling UCF? You can decide. The comments on that tweet from UCF fans certainly make it seem like it was.

Call me crazy, but I don’t think Alabama often uses a #NationalChampions hashtag after it wins a title. This year is obviously a different story with the debate surrounding UCF’s perfect season.

UCF has been using a #NationalChampions hashtag in seemingly every tweet dating back to the Peach Bowl victory against Auburn.

Either way, Alabama’s never-ending supply of championship hardware got a nice new addition.
