Columbus, Georgia, native Caleb Johnson committed to Auburn over Florida Wednesday.

The 3-star SDE is rated a 3-star prospect and ranked as the nation’s No. 29 WDE and the state’s No. 61 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Johnson also considered Tennessee, but it was really a two-team race heading into National Signing Day.

Johnson, listed at 6-foot-4, 250 pounds, fills a big need for the Tigers, and he became the first prospect to actually commit to Auburn on Signing Day. He could play end, Buck or tackle on defense.

The Tigers missed on a few prospects earlier Wednesday, and getting Johnson’s commitment was big.

With Johnson’s commitment, Auburn now has 24 players committed or signed in the class of 2018.
