WATCH: Jonathan Giles explains how Ed Oregron convinced him to come to LSU
Former Texas Tech WR Jonathan Giles tore up the Big 12 in 2016, catching 69 passes for 1,158 yards and 13 touchdowns.
However, he moved on from the school in 2017, transferring to LSU and sitting out last season, per NCAA rules.
Now, he’s wearing No. 7 and is ready to show what he can do in the SEC. On Tuesday, he discussed what it was about coach Ed Orgeron and LSU that made him want to commit to the university:
New No. 7 Jonathan Giles said he was convinced to come to #LSU when he received a 6:30am call from Ed Orgeron and could feel the energy through the phone.

“He called me at 6:30 in the morning,” Giles said. “The enthusiasm he had over the phone — it just excited me. Just getting that call from him was motivation and it was an honor.”
Was Giles really up at 6:30 a.m. to accept Coach O’s call?
“I was not,” he laughed. “I missed the first call, actually. Then he called me again and I answered. It was a great conversation.”
Coach O’s early morning persistence should pay off this fall, as Giles could join a long line of LSU receivers who have become stars.
