Without saying anything publicly himself, Jalen Hurts continues to stay in the news.

Whether it’s his father or his head coach, the Alabama quarterback can’t shake the narrative that his time in Tuscaloosa could be nearing the end. The latest revelation comes from Nick Saban during a Wednesday morning appearance on ESPN morning show Get Up! According to SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic, Saban was quite non-committal when asked about Hurts’ future in Tuscaloosa.

This, of course, follows the Bleacher Report story from Matt Hayes which include quotes from Hurts’ father and Saban’s damning comments regarding his quarterback during last weekend’s A-Day spring game.

Check out Saban’s response when asked if Hurts would be on the Alabama roster come the fall:

Saban added: “I have just respect and trust for both guys. We would have never been where we got to in the National Championship Game in the Playoff if it wasn’t for Jalen and the great job that he did to get us there. And Tua gave us a spark and played outstanding in the second half to come back and be able to win the championship.

“I think being fair and honest with those guys moving forward, giving them an opportunity to compete, no different than you would at any other position… I know that’s a little more difficult to do because of the outside noise, that’s always going to surround the quarterback position… We’ll see who the best quarterback is and who gives us the best chance to win in the fall.”

Although, it doesn’t appear that Saban is pushing Hurts out the door, either. If Hurts were to leave Alabama’s program, they would have only two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster after failing to land a QB commit in the 2018 recruiting cycle and former ECU graduate transfer Gardner Minshew flipped his pick at the last moment from Alabama to Washington State.

By no fault of Hurts, this is a storyline that isn’t going away and only seems to be gaining more traction heading into the quiet of the summer offseason.
