With Arkansas missing out on bowl season, coach Chad Morris took some time Thursday to meet with the media and wrap up his team’s season.

One of the bigger talking points was the Razorbacks’ health heading into 2019, and Morris said three players have had or will have offseason surgery. Sophomore linebacker Hayden Henry and sophomore running back Rakeem Boyd both had shoulder surgery Wednesday, while junior defensive back Britto Tutt will eventually undergo a knee procedure.

For Boyd, he was the team’s leading rusher despite playing with the lingering shoulder ailment and a few other injuries that caused him to miss time throughout the season.

“This has been an injury that, talking to our doctors, has been (affecting him) for quite some time,” Morris told reporters. “So he has played with that all year. So it was just something moving forward for him that he could still have played. His leg injury, he would have been back if we were playing this week.

“This is an opportunity for us to get his shoulder all ready to go and back to 100 percent.”

Morris also said true freshman defensive lineman Billy Ferrell is “trying to get everything right with our doctors” after being held out of practice all season. It’s unclear if Ferrell will be available when spring practice begins Feb. 26, which is the case for all the other players still fighting through injuries.

“I don’t know if they’ll be back for the start,” Morris said. “We hope to get them back after spring break some, maybe some in some non-contact roles, but we’ll see.”
