The Florida Gators received big news late Wednesday night.

DC Todd Grantham is staying in Gainesville as opposed to joining the Cincinnati Bengals, per multiple reports. The Bengals had narrowed their search to Grantham as the main candidate, and he interviewed twice for the Bengals DC job.

Historically, Grantham hasn’t stayed with programs very long, and he’s only been with the Gators for one season. However, his defense was aggressive and quite ferocious at times last year, and he instantly made the unit better.

The Bengals could now look to Texas A&M DC Mike Elko for the role, as they had previous interest in him before narrowing the search to Grantham.

This is obviously really big news for Florida and Dan Mullen. Grantham improved Florida’s pass rush in a hurry, going from 23 sacks in 2017 to 37 last season. Staff continuity is big in college football, and this is certainly a win for Mullen.
