Turns out some members of Florida’s 2019 signing class plan on actually playing with the Gators this fall.

Shocking as that may sound, that’s the message freshman and early enrollee Jaydon Hill conveyed on Friday after hearing his name attached to wild speculation following the defensive back’s connection to Jalon Jones and Chris Steele. In recent days, both Jones and Steele have entered the NCAA transfer portal.

If you were unaware, the three players were roommates at Florida but with Jones and Steele already in the NCAA transfer portal, apparently, that has led to some speculation on Hill’s status with the program moving forward. The freshman did his best to shut all that down in a hurry with the following post on Twitter:

“I came to Florida to play ball & that’s all I’m focused on.. Hold the transfer lies to ya self 🤣 y’all sound foolish 🤦🏽‍♂️

With Steele likely gone for good in Gainesville, although Dan Mullen is reportedly trying to mend that fence, Hill’s level of importance to Florida’s program increased substantially this week. The Gators were already lacking depth in the secondary and if Steele does not return, Hill will be called upon to step up and fill the void next fall.

Rated as a four-star prospect in the 2019 recruiting cycle, the Alabama native is now in line to see the field immediately in Gainesville.
