Tennessee 2019 signee Melvin McBride announces retirement from football
Some unfortunate news to share from Rocky Top as one of the newest faces of the Tennessee football program has been forced to retire from the game.
In-state offensive lineman Melvin McBride revealed he will be forced to retire from the game due to “health problems” just days after arriving on campus. The 6-foot-3, 312-pound Memphis native from Whitehaven High School was expected to begin his Tennessee career as an interior lineman but now he’ll have to contribute to the program in a new manner as his playing career comes to a premature end.
McBride was rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports Composite Rankings. He signed with Tennessee over Florida, Arkansas, Memphis and Indiana.
He is the official announcement from McBride’s Twitter account:
Today I Officially Announce My Retirement From Football Due To Health Problems. I Would Just Like To Say That Football Has Change My Life And Bless Me In Ways I Could Never Imagine. But Now God Has A New Journey For Me???. #60Forever
