FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt question's CFP committee's logic for ranking Georgia at No. 4
The No. 4 spot in the College Football Playoff rankings was the most talked about position leading up to the reveal on Tuesday night, and since then, it continues to be.
FOX Sports analyst Joel Klatt said he needs more clarification from the CFP committee.
“What are trying to tell me, it’s better to lose to South Carolina than it is to be undefeated?,” Klatt said. “I don’t follow this logic.”
Klatt said the committee tried to send a message that Georgia’s wins over Notre Dame and Florida are better than Alabama’s over Texas A&M. He agrees with that much.
“The problem is you have to go down four spots for the committee to find an undefeated team with by the committee’s own rankings is the second best win of the season for teams in the top 10,” he said.
Klatt also drew a strong comparison between Minnesota and Alabama in terms of non-conference games and conference opponents above .500.
“Now if you want to say eye test, that’s fine, I totally understand that,” he said. “But you didn’t use the eye test in Georgia and Alabama.”
