South Carolina’s best player, WR Bryan Edwards, suffered a knee injury against App State and missed last week’s game at Texas A&M, though he traveled with the team.

On the SEC media teleconference, coach Will Muschamp updated Edwards’ status ahead of the Clemson game on Nov. 30 in Williams-Brice Stadium. Muschamp said Edwards had a knee scope and will likely miss the Clemson game, as he was described as “doubtful.”

“There is a possibility he can play… you have to make account for him on defense,” Muschamp said. “I hurt for him, he deserves to walk out of here with all the records.”

Edwards is one short of the all-time program record for touchdown catches.

Muschamp was asked if the Gamecocks can fix their ailing offense during the bye week.

“We can play better,” Muschamp said. “When things aren’t going well, you have to look in the mirror. That’s the first thing. Are we asking the players to do too much? We averaged over 30 points per game last year… we’ve done some good things offensively, we have moved the ball on them, not many have, we continue to look at that following the game at College Station. I can assure you of that.”
