The town of Auburn, Alabama is buzzing this week in preparation for the Iron Bowl, as Alabama comes to town to close out the regular season.

Gus Malzahn received a nice bit of news in the lead-up to the game to add to the buzz, as 4-star defensive end prospect Zykeivous Walker committed to the Tigers, according to Rivals.com.

“I made my decision Wednesday morning after praying on it some more and talking it over with my mother,” Walker told Rivals. “I have been praying about this for a long time and my heart has been telling me Auburn is the school for me for about a month to a month and a half.

“This really wasn’t a tough decision,” Walker continued. “It was clear to me. I did not think Auburn would be a school for me back in the summer, but I kept my eyes open, I kept praying about it and my heart tells me Auburn is the place for me.”

Listed as the No. 9 strong-side defensive end in the 2020 class, the six foot four, 260 pound prospect grew up in Schley County, Georgia, where he was recruited heavily by his home state Georgia Bulldogs. Florida and Alabama were vying hard for his services as well.

A few Auburn coaches were fired up about the announcement, to say the least.

The final week of the regular season is off to a good start in Auburn, but nothing would make it better like a win over Alabama on Saturday.
