Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek has fun with Razorback fans tracking airplane movement
The coverage of the coaching search at Arkansas has jumped fully into minute-by-minute tracking of flights to and from Arkansas. Especially when they appear to land in or near Boca Raton, Florida, for example, and potential candidate Lane Kiffin of Florida Atlantic.
John R. Nabors of The Morning Rush on ESPN Arkansas tweeted often about it on Sunday, but here was one of his tweets from Monday: “Flight N929SS from Jacksonville has been cleared to land at Springdale Airport. Boots on the Ground crew ready to gain visual of target. Standby.”
Tracking flights has become common for coaching searches across the country in several sports. But it’s increasingly difficult because of masked or blocked tail numbers and fake flight plans cause problems. As the coaching carousel spins and other jobs come open, new airports and potential flight plans come into the picture.
But AD Hunter Yurachek, who is involved in the search, took a moment to poke fun at the coverage with a tweet below.
Here’s an example of the kind of tweets that followed the Arkansas coverage.
Arkansas fans have been tracking planes all day. After doing some digging, the search team led by Hunter Yurachek and Jon Fagg is indeed hopping around talking to candidates. They were in Boca Raton today, per two sources. More interviews scheduled.
