President Donald Trump is set to witness his second LSU game in person this season. The White House has reportedly confirmed Trump’s attendance for the national championship in New Orleans on Monday against Clemson.

Elizabeth Crisp, a D.C. correspondent for The Advocate, reported that “New Orleans city officials will give “additional updates on security measures and public safety preparedness later this week” before national championship game. Previous games Trump has attended have had additional security measures.”

The confirmation came after an earlier report from The Advocate, which reported Trump’s attendance. A noted sports fan, Trump earlier attended the LSU-Alabama game in Tuscaloosa in 2019, and called LSU coach Ed Orgeron to compliment the team on its 63-28 rout over Oklahoma in the Peach Bowl and reportedly expressed interest in attending the championship game.

Fans will be encouraged to arrive at the game earlier than usual to get through security. New Orleans police are expected to be out in force in the tourist-heavy areas around the Superdome and the French Quarter. NOLA police typically provide additional support to the U.S. Secret Service with motorcades and other security measures, including road closures, The Advocate reported.
