Former Florida standout Trey Burton has signed with the Indianapolis Colts, per his agency EnterSports Management.

The Chicago Bears recently announced that they had released Burton following 2 seasons after signing him to a 4-year, $38 million deal. Burton suffered injuries throughout the 2019 season for the 8-8 Bears.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Burton will receive a 1-year deal with the Colts worth the minimum, but he added that Burton will receive $4 million that’s already guaranteed to him from the Bears.

Following his impressive Florida career that saw Burton play multiple positions, he went undrafted and signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on a free agent contract. Burton made the team and played well for the Eagles. During his time in Philly, Burton recorded 63 catches for 629 yards and 6 touchdowns. Upon signing with the Bears, Burton had a career year in 2018, catching 54 passes for 569 yards and 6 touchdowns. However, 2019 was quite frustrating after suffering through an injury-riddled season.

During his 4-year career at Florida, Burton rushed for 720 yards and 16 touchdowns, while also catching 107 passes for 976 yards and 4 touchdowns. Burton, a former 3-star signee, came to Florida as a quarterback.
