In his senior season, Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith will presumably be making most of his receptions off of passes from Mac Jones. Smith, though, can already see a bright future for freshman quarterback Bryce Young.

“He’s going to be a great quarterback,” Smith recently said via video conference, per AL.com. “With him not having a spring and just coming during the summer, he learns quick.”

The No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2020 enrolled at Alabama in January. Due to the March sports shutdown because of the coronavirus pandemic, Young and the rest of the Crimson Tide did not get to take part in spring practice. Young appears to have made the most of workouts and player-organized activities.

“I like what I’m seeing. He’s ready,” Smith said of Young. “Just the way that he approaches the game and handles himself, he’s going to be a great quarterback.”

Young managing to impress a senior wide receiver with only limited practice is sure to only add to the 5-star freshman’s hype.
