There is talk around South Carolina that this unit may be the best offensive line Will Muschamp has had since he’s been with the Gamecocks, as he’s set to start his fifth season.

The anchor of the offensive line is right tackle Dylan Wonnum, who has been a rising star for a while, and as a junior may be coming into his own as a bona fide star.

Wonnum got some accolades as a freshman, such as being named a 2018 First Team Freshman All-America by 247Sports and to the 2018 SEC Coaches’ All-Freshman Team. He started four games at right tackle, then suffered an ankle injury at Missouri and missed five games before he moved to left tackle against Clemson.

Wonnum said he’s as healthy as he’s ever been. Now he’s more of a leader, while he works on pass blocking and becoming more versatile.

“I try to have good body language at all times, that’s my role in the offensive line room,” he said.

Is this group the best line in several years?

“I definitely feel that way,” Wonnum said after the first full-pads practice on Monday. “I’m always going to be confident every year, but I feel like this year, we really look good.”

At left tackle, the Gamecocks plan to insert Jazston Turnetine, while the guards will be Sadarius Hutcherson and Jovaughn Gwyn, and Hank Manos is expected to be center if he can beat out Eric Douglas.
