It was a joyous scene in the Alabama locker room on Thursday. Alabama redshirt freshman running back Trey Sanders returned to campus for the first time since getting injured in a car accident in Florida during the team’s bye week.

Sanders didn’t sustain any life-threatening injuries but he is reportedly expected to miss the rest of the season.

Sanders’ teammates were filled with joy to have him back in Tuscaloosa.

What a beautiful moment.

Sanders’ brother, Umstead, was also in the car accident and is reportedly doing OK too, according to BamaOnline.

Alabama coach Nick Saban confirmed that Sanders underwent successful surgery and is out indefinitely.

“We expect him to have a full recovery,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said via WVTM13. “But I do think that he is probably out indefinitely. There’s no real timetable. He’s going to be OK but pretty serious stuff.”

Sanders rushed for 80 yards on 12 carries in Alabama’s victory vs. Mississippi State last week. Sanders has 134 yards on 30 carries this season.

Sanders missed all of last season due to a foot injury. Sanders arrived at Alabama as a five-star prospect and the No. 1 running back in the nation, according to BamaOnline.
